We are the Conscience of America

Sure, there is strength in unity. Yes, it makes a people strong to have grounding in moral principles. Indeed, a leader who has proven himself in the world of commerce does have abilities that could be useful in government. Certainly, it is vital to demonstrate iron resolve and conviction.

Just make Sure that you adhere to a code of righteousness as you conduct your business. Never let defects of character such as temptation, greed, fear or hatred interfere with the just dispensation of your duties. Never forget that we are all human beings, no matter what we look like, what we wear, where we live, how we re-create ourselves.

And Just make Sure that you Never succumb to lying, cheating, stealing, killing, destroying or torturing, and that you act in accordance with all that is True, Good and Wise, as prophets and philosophers the world over, down through the ages, have mandated.

We will be watching. The millions of us. We will continue to seek truth and justice, and we will readily speak out and demand accountability when we see those values undermined, denied or repressed.

We are the Conscience of America.

How you can save the Republic

New Word for the day: Corp-ora-to-crat

Infecting our government and Press today is an ideology we fought a revolution against 200 years ago. When the East India Corporation, based in England, began to undersell (through unfair tax policy) and thus monopolize the American colonial tea market, threatening to dominate that industry and then others, as it was in India, entrepreneurs in these colonies recognized that danger and took action. The resulting new republic (read: representative democracy) created a nation of laws including those designed specifically to prevent the development and spread of the same cancer it had fought to rid itself of in revolution: the super-wealthy, corporate aristocracy. Later in our history, Presidents Jefferson, Lincoln and both Roosevelts wrote extensively on the dangers of neglecting to maintain control over (and limits on), the size and power of the corporate aristocracy. The new republic defined in the Constitution Began with the words "We, the People" to emphasize that this was a government to be run by representatives of the population at large, and not by or for an aristocracy, a theocracy, or a corporatocracy.

What we have occupying much of our government as well as much of our press today are not Democrats or Republicans, not Conservatives, not Liberals: they are, and represent only, the Corporate Aristocrats. They are Corporatocrats.

Corp - ora - to - crats.

Corporatocrats are also known as Fascists, according to the definition given by Mussolini, the man who invented the word Fascism.

With that in mind, Gitmo, AbuGraib, ANWR, a cabinet of deregulatory industry-lobbyists, perpetual war and the continual dismemberment of programs designed to promote the general welfare , should be no surprise at all.

But, see, not everyone knows this.

Yet.

America Sold Out

Artificial legal fictions called "corporate persons" are undermining our Constitutional Republic.  They have seized the power that is meant for you and for me.  Republic means "Representative Democracy".  "Representative Democracy" means "Rule of the People through their elected officials".  Lobbyists, Crony-Capitalists, Monopolists and other Corruptionists have hijacked the system of government outlined in the Constitution, Federalist Papers and Declaration of Independence:  those documents which in summary define the spirit and letter of what is known as the United States of America.  Through persistent, concerted interference with the legislative, judicial and executive regulatory processes, they have, among other things, turned the Press into a biased, guileful megaphone for concentrated wealth, thus hindering the vital dialogue between citizens that is crucial to the maintenance of a real republic.  In the face of the public trust, activities of self-interest are leaching the industry and public revenues of our society from our shores.  Through shortsighted, reckless and belligerent policy they are endangering not only America, but the Entire Human Race.  They are bankrupting the government of our Union.

It is time to regain your sovereignty, protect yourself, your family and your community.  Inaction will lead to tragedy.   Learn what you can do.

I urge you to Read the Constitution and Memorize the Bill of Rights.  Give copies of them to your neighbors and co-workers.  Demand accountability from those who presently wield power based on your consent.   If you are in the least bit apprehensive about speaking out regarding the actions of your government, then as a true American you MUST speak out.  Your children depend on it. We All depend on it.

Wake up!

The Military - Industrial Complex

President Dwight D. Eisenhower was a Republican.  He was instrumental in defeating the Nazis and also in constructing our system of Interstate Highways.  As he left office in 1961, he issued a warning to us, which can be read in its entirety HERE.

Some noticeable aspects of these words, lately referred to as the "Military-Industrial Complex Speech", warn of the development of a "permanent armaments industry of vast proportions" that had not existed prior to World War II.  He said that "We must never let the weight of [the] combination [of defense and industry] endanger our liberties or democratic processes.", and that "Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."

He also warned that "you and I, and our government -- must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering, for our own ease and convenience, the precious resources of tomorrow.", and that "We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage."

He noted the migration of much of our intelligent, educated population into the businesses of security and defense thus:  "The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present [..]"

"and is gravely to be regarded."

and that "public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite."

This guy knew what he was talking about.

Freedom for people on this planet will depend on what we do today to stop the devolution of our republic into a militarist empire.  Ever wonder why we in America support so many tyrannical regimes overseas?  I refer you here to a good book by Chalmers Johnson entitled, "The Sorrows of Empire" listed HERE.  I also urge you to take action such as those I suggest HERE.

Hunter S. Thompson exposed "flag-suckers" and accomplices.

Hunter Thompson wasn't afraid to live damn well the way he chose. When something didn't sit right with him, he said so. He didn't kiss anybody's ass. He didn't believe the Warren Commission and he didn't like Nixon and he said Bush made Nixon look like a liberal. He smelled a rat regarding 9/11 and he rightly predicted they'd use it to justify an attack on Iraq. He checked out a month after Bush was sworn in for a second term.

In the Summer of 2002 he did this interview. Behold a REAL Journalist.

On Energy Policy

Continuing to base our economy on Fossil Fuels is an out-dated, dirty, non-sustainable strategy.  Running the country into debt and killing and destroying overseas  in a fight over fossil fuels, is shortsighted and stupid (unless, of course, the monied interests want to bankrupt the republic and replace it with corporate feudalism).

Effectively mustering our national will and resources in a modern-day apollo or manhattan-style project, we could, with good leadership, build wind and solar-collector farms (in time, HUGE solar farms in orbit, beaming that energy to any preferred spot on Earth 24 hours per day).  We could de-centralize our power-grids and base our vehicles on hydrogen and/or other energy-storage technologies.

Doing this, we accomplish three things:

  1. We eliminate the necessity to fight with our neighbors over the limited, remaining oil.
  2. We tap into the unlimited energy that will be required to support our exploding population, under conditions of degraded environment caused by our prior use of fossil fuels.  Climate changes resulting from melting ice caps, which cause lower salinity in seawater, which may stop the Gulf Stream, might mean widespread flooding and unfavorable temperature changes, and crop failures.  This may result in the need for whole populations to move.  This will all require incredible amounts of energy.
  3. We stop fouling our own nest.  That gas station up the street has an effect on your drinking water and that car-exhaust contains carcinogens.

Why aren't we doing it?  We're not doing it because corporate interests have outweighed People in the government's decision-making process, resulting in undue favorable support of the fossil fuel industry, and incidentally also the war (Killing and Destroying) industry.

This irresponsibility regarding energy policy is yet another crime perpetrated against our people by a system of government that has been thoroughly corrupted by corporate interests.  Why else would Ronald Reagan so hastily remove Jimmy Carter's solar panels from the White House?

We can take action to begin making Solar Powersats and hydrogen-powered vehicles a reality, or we can participate in the disaster some knuckleheads will call the "rapture". I'm for the first option.
